About Stillwaters

Stillwaters is a small, calm tool with a simple idea: tell it how you feel, and it writes you one short, original line to slow you down and bring you back to the present.

What it is

Every reflection is generated fresh for the words you give it. Nothing is a recycled famous quote; there are no attributions and no greeting-card platitudes. Just a single, honest line, written for the moment you are in.

You can choose a tone — calming, grounding, or energizing — and keep, copy, or share any reflection that lands.

Who it is for

Anyone navigating a busy modern life who wants a moment of pause: the racing mind at midnight, the scattered afternoon, the anxious wave, the ordinary day that deserves a little more attention.

Who is behind Stillwaters

Stillwaters was built in 2024 by Maya Ellison and Jonah Reyes — two people who wanted a gentler, more honest kind of AI tool than the ones we kept running into. There is no large company here and no venture backing; just a small project made carefully, with a lot of attention paid to what it says and how it says it.

The written guides are the part we take most seriously. Maya has kept a personal mindfulness practice for over a decade and led community meditation sessions since 2016. She writes and reviews every guide on Stillwaters, checking each against reputable, non-commercial sources rather than her opinion alone.

How we write the guides

Every guide is written by a person, not spun out by a machine. Where a guide makes a factual claim about how the mind or body works, we check it against reputable, non-commercial sources — public health bodies like the NHS, professional organisations like the American Psychological Association, and peer-reviewed research — and list those sources at the foot of that guide so you can read further. Our shorter reflections on particular moments are just that: reflective rather than clinical, so they make no such claims and carry no citations.

We are practitioners and writers, not clinicians. The guides are educational and reflective, never a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and we say so plainly wherever it matters.

What it is not

Stillwaters is not therapy, medical advice, or a mental-health service, and its reflections are AI-generated. If you are struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a professional. In the US you can call or text 988; elsewhere, you can find a line at findahelpline.com. You deserve real support, and you do not have to carry hard things alone.

Begin

The best way to understand it is to try it. Write your first reflection.
